Sacred Valley Peru

Today we were lucky to visit a number of sites in the Sacred Valley. It follows the Vilcanota River and heads its way to Machupiccu. We stoped at Pisaq, Calca, Urubamba, Ollantaytambo and Chinchero. Many of these sites were a strain on the legs as the sites are way up high in the mountains and you have to climb huge steps carved out of the stone. Of course it is worth it, and the views and scenery are incredible. At Pisaq they have a wonderful market which is particularly bigger on Sundays, so if you going, head there on a Sunday. Don't forget to bargain of course, and anything they suggest, it is probably more like half the price they are happy with. All the sites are built in platform stages, like rice patty's, this is for agriculture as well as stability. At Chincheros they also have a market where traditional crafts are made with natural dies, and they also have demonstrations of how the dies are used.
