Quinoa Soup

Friday 21 November 2008 - Cuzco, Peru
Sleep in after a restless night of headaches and pins and needles, which we found out later is signs of altitude sickness, so another rest day and more Coca Tea. Looking on the internet this morning we did a bit of research on Coca Tea, turns out it is basis of Cocaine, so there you go. Of course it goes through a lot of processing to become cocaine, but, there you go. Then a bit of a wander through the streets of Cuzco. It is such just a beautiful city, filled with culture, arts and wonder. We went to a couple of tour guide offices and ended up booking a tour to see some ruins over the next couple of days, finishing with Machu Picchu on Tuesday. We also found some great places to eat that have beautiful food which is really cheap. For lunch we had some Alpaca which was really good, along with more Quinoa soup. Effects of altitude started to slow down by the end of the day, so hopefully with another good nights sleep we'll be all set for horse riding tomorrow.
