4:30am start to get picked up at 5:10 for our 6am vista dome train. We were very excited and our seats were together at 31D and 31E. Well, no, they weren't. D & E are different carriages are they. 31 refers to the seat number. So then we talked to the staff about rearranging us. Pete was pretty pissed off, but they were able to accommodate us in the end. Word for the wise, if getting the train, get seats together, and seats that face forward - going backwards for 4 hours does your head in. When we arrived at Aquas Caliantas Station we were met by a girl from our hostel who walked us a short way through the market, over the railway and down by a raging river. Our room was great, with a private bathroom and view of the river. Hot water wasn't really optional, but things could be worse. We then found out where the Hot Springs were and headed up the road to have a dip. The Springs are nestled high up the road so its a little bit of a walk to get up there. There are 6 pools all with different temperatures and the colour of the water looks a bit like dirty creek water, but it feels really good then it started to rain. Its a fantastic feeling being in really warm water with cool rain coming down. We then went up to have a few beers and watch the goings on down below.
