Heading for the Beach

Monday 22 December 2008 Bath - Torcross, England
Finally found a laundry mat in Bath, our first in our British Isle travels. I'm sure there are plenty of others out there, we just hadn't come across any. After the washing was done, we did a drive around and the Great Circle ... it looked really familiar and I thing this was actually used in the movie 'Oliver' when he is adopted by that rich family. Anyway, left Bath and headed toward Dawlish. We had heard that there was some pretty nice coastline south of there and just thought we would see where the car took us. Went through the towns of Dawlish, Teignmouth, Babbacombe, Torquay, Brixham, Darmouth before stopping finally at Torcross. Torcross has this beautiful stretch of quiet beach and gentle sounding waves. We stopped at the local pub for dinner which served great meals. Torcross we gathered was a pretty small village and not the same as the other Torbay villages filled with amusement parlors and tourists. At 6pm all the locals pilled in for their evening fish n chips and the like. The local Otter Ale was a pretty good drop too. For the night we found a car park in the middle of the beach strip that had toilet facilities and absolutely no-one there. Drifted off to sleep listening to the sound of the waves. Nice.
